“You only need one man to love you. But him to love you free like a wildfire, crazy like the moon, always like tomorrow, sudden like an inhale and overcoming like the tides. Only one man and all of this.” C. JoyBell C.
Love is the greatest gift God ever gave man. True love is really indescribable, given that it manifest itself on many different ways, however…a psychologist Robert Sternberg once explained true love, by splitting it into three parts.
Passion, physical and sexual attraction. It is like “Wow!”… hearing angels and music…just being unable to get over a person due to an overwhelming attraction, feeling an obsessive need to have these feelings reciprocated.
Intimacy that leads to attachment, creates closeness and connectedness, becoming bonded with another person. Intimacy grows deeper by sharing with one another every aspect of our lives. Intimacy is built on trust and safety. It is work. It implies a lot of talking and disclosure.
Commitment implies human’s ability to stay connected no matter what. A mature person is one who can work through misunderstandings and hurts. A key to staying together is believing the best of the other person, not prejudging them with bad motives. It is working positively to resolve issues. Commitment involves being conciliatory and pursuing the relationship regardless, forming a social contracts such as engagement and marriage, truly respecting each other’s differences.
“True love isn’t expressed in passionately whispered words an intimate kiss or an embrace; before two people are married, love is expressed in self-control, patience, even words left unsaid.” Joshua Harris
True love is a deep, calm knowing. It can easily be distinguished, because love feels secure, while lust feels emotional. If one is considering getting married, there is one thing to be remembered: marriage should not be the easy. It should be the sequel to a true friendship. Loads of people assume when getting married they think they’re in love and that they’re suppose to marry the person who excites them and has good sexual chemistry. But after those feelings subside they end up with resentment, disgust, sadness and anger for this person, feeling trapped. They were never really in love. As opposed to that, it’s the most beautiful feeling the wake up every day being happy in a relationship with someone who you can depend on to be by your side forever no matter what. That is love.
“Only love of a good woman will make a man question every choice, every action. Only love makes a warrior hesitate for fear that his lady will find him cruel. Only love makes a man both the best he will ever be, and the weakest. Sometimes all in the same moment. Wicked.” Laurell K. Hamilton
